UNMINED MINERALS TAX REVENUE THREATENED BY LOOPHOLES IN HOUSE BILL 243 Coal county schools and local
services would suffer (Click here for KFTC's Info)).On Tuesday, the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee approved House Bill 243 which
would change the way unmined mineral property is assessed and taxed. KFTC's analysis of the bill is that it would open up loopholes to
allow corporate mining and mineral-holding interests to qualify for exemptions, thus eroding an important source of revenue for coal
county schools, fiscal courts and other local services (libraries, health departments, extension services, fire departments).ACTION:
Please contact your own representative and at least a couple of the following (you can leave messages for three at a time on the message
line):MESSAGE: "Please protect unmined minerals tax revenues for schools. Vote NO on House Bill 243 and new corporate loopholes."
