KRC Comments On Proposed Air Pollution Permit For Ghent Power Plant

« Latest News
KRC submitted comments this week on the Title V operating permit for the Ghent coal-powered power plant, the largest in Kentucky by output. The comments encouraged the Kentucky Division for Air Quality to: (1) take into consideration principles of environmental justice in permitting; (2) write and organize complex permits with the average reader in mind to the greatest extent possible; (3) restrict emissions from such large sources impacting on nonattainment areas; and (4) add additional measures to ensure emissions of hazardous air pollutants remain below limits.  To read the comments, click here.

KRC continues to examine environmental permitting actions from state and local agencies across the Commonwealth, and is developing resources to attempt to help average citizens become more meaningfully engaged in such decisions. Contact us if environmental decisionmaking near you is impacting your wellbeing or the natural resources around you.
